my father owns the cattle on a thousand hills.
why should i be concerned with the matters of men?
will he not care for me? will he not see that my needs are met?

my father owns the cattle on a thousand hills. all the world is his.

trying hard to have faith in that today. trying hard to look at our bank account and find an extra one thousand dollars. trying to think that eating instant mashed potatoes is an ok breakfast and lunch.

trying so hard to be faithful and true.
Lord God have mercy on me a sinner.
Lord God have mercy on me a sinner.
Lord God have mercy on me a sinner.

So i just read an email and  i got accepted to the doula training scholarship class!   (what is a doula? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Doula )   This means that the center for the childbearing year in Ann Arbor will be awarding me full scholarship and books for my classes on my way to becoming a dona certified doula/  ( i am super excited about this, as it is a commonly recognized first step in midwifery, and all though im not sure exactly what my future looks like, i8 know that helping women give birth and teaching them about their bodies is definitely the majority of it-besides my fabulous husband) The only requirement is that i agree to work with 5 women in their low income/poverty free doula clinic.. oh poor me.. thats only what i want with the rest of my life.. so im pretty freaking excited.  Just wanted to share that with you.
And in case you wonder, some of the topics that includes is then,

Basic Child Birth Skills
  • anatomy and physiology of pregnancy and birth
  • optimal nutrition for a healthy pregnancy
  • relief for common discomforts of pregnancy
  • medical interventions in birth and the process of informed consent
  • complications in labor and birth
  • cesarean birth
  • normal newborn appearance
  • medical protocols and tests for the newborn
  • benefits of breastfeeding
Birth Doula Training
  • The Doula professional: scope of practice and ethical standards
  • The Doula's role during pregnancy
  • Emotional support in labor
  • Comfort measures and pain relief
  • Labor support strategies for normal and challenging births
  • Cesarean birth and vaginal birth after cesarean (VBAC)
  • Essential communication and mediation skills for Doulas
  • The Doula's role with the newborn and initiation of breastfeeding
  • The Doula's role postpartum
so yeah, thats what new with me. Pray for me, as it will mean lots of studying and traveling and well, im a newlywed and i like my husband alot.
thanks.

creating full time so i freaked out one night whilst looking at college stuff about money. about sitting at home all day, about not living in community.  And on a random fluke, i applied for a job on craigslist. and i got it. and i turned it down.( i cannot commit to working for someone for the next three years.. im just not that person.).  but i got to thinking. im doing *nothing* for now until jon and hannah's wedding, and then im gone for a month and then im getting ready for school... why coudlnt i be doing something? and then caitlin called. or texted, or something.and long sotry short, im going to be taking over her job for a few months in july and august and september, working as a nanny for two very sweet little girls just minutes away from my house. sweet. but it still leaves me with my here and now. (my husband really like the idea of me staying home.. which is adorable.) and all of a sudden things started rolling. becky and i bought a table at the old town art festival. and ive got to start creating. i have never sold anything before. i travelled around for six months with jewelry making supplies and never even attempted to sell anything.. i always chicken out or procrastinate to the last second.. but here i am with two weeks, supplies, lists and unlimited time to work.
creating has become my full time job.
and i think it will be good for me.
in other news, i really really really want to learn to spinn my own yarn, so if you know anyone who has a spare spinning wheel lying around, let me know.
